Launch of the WindEurope Offshore Wind ports platform on September 7th
While at this moment the last foundation parts of the Nobelwind farm go off to sea from the Rebo-terminal in the Port of Oostende, a two-day European Wind Energy Congress is taking place in this Belgian sea port. More than 90 professionals are sharing their experience in the offshore wind business.
The conference, "Offshore Wind Ports Platform”, is initiated by the Port of Oostende, Rebo and Wind Europe. Wind Europe establishes and advocates wind energy policies for Europe.
Supported by Port of Oostende and Rebo, Wind Europe launches the "Offshore Wind Ports Platform”. This platform gathers the knowledge and experience of several European ports active in the offshore wind sector.
Ports, developers, manufacturers and the wider supply chain attend the inaugural meeting about the challenges and opportunities in today’s ports. This is a valuable opportunity to meet in one place and discuss the requirements that will ensure continued success for offshore wind.
Amongst the participants: Port of Oostende, Port of Groningen, Port of Amsterdam, Port of Dunkerque, Port of Den Helder, Dong, Scottish Power Renewables, Jan De Nul, Deme, Siemens, Sarens, Smulders, ….
"Sharing this knowledge is very important to ensure the development of the offshore wind industry," Paul Gerard, ceo Port of Oostende.
In the context of the Lean Wind (FP7) European project, the participants are working on innovative concepts to reduce the cost of offshore operations.
